Thanks for stopping by my home at Godsta 4 Life. I am taking a step of faith by putting it all out there: my life, my purpose and my worth. Godsta 4 Life is, particularly, for young people who are searching themselves to identify their own worth and purpose in life. It is a revelation of how I continue to find me in the midst of the occasional turmoil and chaos that life presents.
MY LIFE.
I believe in music. I believe in its power, its charisma and its mystery. Over the years, I have grown more in love with God for having given me this special passion of mine as an instrument to figure out who I am and who the world is; to express my identity and to identify with who the world is.
MY PURPOSE.
You see, God has given me music to save me….this passion, this urgency, this sound, that I have was birthed out of hard times and meager means. I have transitioned into a newer understanding of my human mind and I have learnt that in the absence of the abundance of material things, there is an excess of wealth in the spirit of man. My music was born through this.
MY WORTH.
Like everyone else in the world, there are many days when I really struggle to be me.
But I have found that…
I don’t have to be angry or lude to impress,
My music says it best.
I don’t have to take my clothes off to shine in a crowd,
My music says it best.
I don’t have to constantly please other people to live a satisfying life;
My ultimate loyalty is to God.
My music says this best!

Abbi-K's Bio
Unpretentious, warm, vivacious, are words that come to mind when you first come in contact with this young, contemporary gospel artist and her music. Abbi-K was born Abigail Kichelle Herbert in St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands) but relocated to St. Johns, Antigua in 1989. She recalls, with nostalgia, how being immersed in church life in Antigua helped to shaped her love for God and her love for music. “I remember how my Mom would ensure that we were in church all the time, not only that, she also allowed my brother and I to spend hours and hours playing instruments after church. That was how I found out I had a flair for the guitar, drums and my favorite, the keyboards.” She continued to share that her current musical style also grew out of the type of melodies she was exposed to while growing up in a Christian community. “They used to call our church the carnival church, eh? The music was “wild”. It was great. Very early in my life, I started to appreciate a taste for a non-traditional gospel sound. If you hear my song, “Blood Dem Off” you can feel what I am talking about.”
The year 2004, became a pivotal moment in her life when two significant cheerleaders of her music career, died within months of each other. She describes, with a hint of regret, how the tragedy affected her, “They were my role models, and as a teenager, I could talk to them about anything and often felt very optimistic after sharing my ordeals with them. Everyone needs that kind of bond.” Moments like those inspired the lyrics for “Love Song” and “I Want To Be More Like You”. Since then, Abbi-K has determined not only to love people more, but to also be a positive impact on those around her. She finds that her music has been one of the most effective ways to realize her goals, especially as it relates to kids. “You should see them, after I have performed at a concert, they gather around me with so much excitement on their faces. I get to laugh and chat with them one on one and to tell them how special they are. I don’t think that they can ever hear enough of that!” She shared, fondly.
It is important to her that her songs persuade others to make productive and fulfilling life choices. “I write to reinvigorate and inspire hope in my peers,” she asserts. “Young people need to feel confident about themselves even after they have been drawn away from their life’s purpose, whether it is by gangs, drugs, or teenage pregnancy.”
Because of her rigorous upbringing, she feels empowered to encourage youth “to raise their standards and push against the negative influences that they encounter in their lives.” Her first single, “World Changers: Godsta Anthem” exudes that very message.
You can hear Abbi-K expressing more of that eagerness to live "in the image of her Creator" as you listen to her Pre Album entitled “Beginnings”. Her first album is expected to be released, here in NY, early 2010.
